JoinwellFXB

JoinwellFXB brings together two established Maltese names, united by quality, reliable service and considered design for homes, businesses and larger projects.

About JoinwellFXB

JoinwellFXB brings together Joinwell, established in 1947, and FXB, whose story began with master carpenter Francis Borg’s workshop in Gozo in the late 19th century.

Combining decades of experience in furniture, interiors, manufacturing and project delivery, we support homeowners, designers, businesses and developers with more complete solutions. From first consultation to final delivery, we listen carefully, guide honestly and deliver with precision and personal care.

A Legacy Built Over Generations

FXB

1890

The FXB story began when 16-year-old Francis Borg travelled from Gozo to Malta to learn carpentry. Returning to Gozo, he established a small woodworking workshop, laying the foundations for a family business built on craftsmanship, dedication and quality. He later spent time in the United States before returning to Gozo to expand the business.
FXB

1940s

Following the Second World War, Francis Borg's sons, Francis Xavier and George, took over the family business. Building on their father's legacy, they continued developing the workshop, combining traditional craftsmanship with a growing ambition to expand the business and establish a stronger presence in the local furniture industry.
Joinwell

Since 1947

George Galea and his brothers Louis and Joseph founded the company in post-war Malta, initially repairing war-damaged doors and apertures. Contracts with British services in Malta and Libya followed, eventually leading to a showroom in Libya.
Joinwell

1960s

Vincent and Albert Galea joined the business, followed by Maurice de Giorgio. The company secured a licence to manufacture G Plan furniture, won several hotel-room contracts and expanded into mattresses, Venetian blinds and new furniture lines.
FXB

1970

Francis X. Borg Co. Ltd. was officially incorporated, marking the company's transition from a traditional carpentry workshop to industrial furniture manufacturing. The construction of its first factory in Gozo represented a major milestone, creating new opportunities for production, innovation and future expansion.
Joinwell

1970s

The company continued expanding its manufacturing expertise, signing a further licensing agreement to produce Reprodux furniture. This strengthened its position in local furniture production and built on the manufacturing capabilities developed during the previous decade.
FXB

1980s–1990s

FXB expanded its local showroom network and began exporting kitchen cabinet doors to the United Kingdom. The FXB name became recognised for style, craftsmanship and quality. In 1991, the company received the National Award for Achievement in Industry, recognising its contribution to Maltese manufacturing and continued growth.
Joinwell

1990s

As local furniture manufacturing faced growing competition from imports, the business adapted. It shifted towards commercial and marine contracts, bespoke commissions and the importation of leading European furniture brands, broadening its offer beyond local production.
FXB

2000s–present

From its origins as a small family workshop, FXB has evolved into a diversified furniture group with manufacturing facilities and showrooms across Malta and Gozo. Specialising in residential and contract furniture for local and international markets, the Group continues to combine generations of craftsmanship with modern production capabilities and a commitment to excellence.
Joinwell

2008

Joinwell moved from its well-known Sliema showroom to a larger, state-of-the-art facility in Qormi. The move created more space for its expanding collections, operations and services while supporting the company’s continued development.
JoinwellFXB

2023

Joinwell and FXB merged, bringing together complementary strengths and expanding the group’s portfolio. The merger also incorporated The Bath Concept, specialising in bathroom solutions, and Econetique Energy Solutions, focused on sustainable energy systems.
JoinwellFXB

Present

Today, JoinwellFXB is led by Sebastian de Giorgio, grandson of Maurice de Giorgio. Its team spans design, carpentry, logistics and installation, continuing a long-standing focus on quality, skilled delivery and dependable service.
