JoinwellFXB and Jade Interiors take a Seat on the World Stage with their contribution to Malta’s Venice Biennale Pavilion

At the heart of Malta’s pavilion at the 2026 Venice Biennale is an invitation to pause, take a seat and consider another perspective. JoinwellFXB and Jade Interiors helped bring that invitation to life, manufacturing 78 custom stools with cushions for the exhibition space.

Titled No Need To Sparkle; Experiments in Love and Revolution, the Maltese National Pavilion brings together artists Adrian MM Abela, Charlie Cauchi and Raphael Vella under the curatorship of Margerita Pulè.

Their three installations explore authenticity, self-determination, myth-making and resistance through moving images, sculpture and other media. Positioned where the works meet, the central seating area gives visitors a place to spend time with the exhibition and experience it together.

This shared space reflects the pavilion’s wider ambition: to encourage openness, curiosity and empathy in a world often shaped by competing certainties.

JoinwellFXB and Jade Interiors were entrusted with manufacturing the 78 cushioned stools that form the seating arrangement. Their contribution demonstrates how furniture can support the purpose of a cultural space, translating an invitation to reflect into something visitors can physically experience.

The pavilion takes its title from Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own. It asks audiences to approach unfamiliar ideas with a willingness to question their assumptions, bringing together different voices rather than insisting on a single answer.

Commissioned by Arts Council Malta, with architectural design by SON Architecture, the pavilion is produced by Unfinished Art Space with R Gallery.

For JoinwellFXB and Jade Interiors, the commission represents an opportunity to contribute their manufacturing skills to a collaborative project showcasing Malta’s contemporary art internationally.

No Need To Sparkle; Experiments in Love and Revolution is presented at the Arsenale in Venice and remains open to the public until 22 November 2026.
